DOUGLAS BROWN
Douglas was born and raised in Scarborough in a house of hockey, more hockey and music, before marrying and moving to Pickering, where his family has lived for 33 years. Douglas and his wife, Dorothy, have two children, Megan and Joshua.
Early life was spent in the music business as a drummer and singer, performing throughout Ontario until 1974, and then as a booking agent for many of the major Canadian rock bands of the seventies, including one that is still going strong, and is one of the largest selling groups in Canadian music history.
Retiring from the music industry in 1980, Douglas joined the family construction business with his father and brother. The business was started by his father in the late 1950’s and grew to become one of the major retail store builders across Canada, as well as a major millwork contractor for many projects, including the restoration of the Pantages Theatre and the 360 Restaurant at the top of the CN Tower. Douglas is still in the construction business, based in Pickering, as a Senior Project Manager for projects throughout Ontario.
Music is still a major part of Douglas's life, as he is still a drummer and a member of the choir at Pickering Village United Church, where he also serves as part of the Property Committee, attempting to keep the place in shape. The choir is a blessing for Douglas, as he had not sung in a choir since high school.
Aside from his family and his music, Douglas's other passion is his second home on the waterfront of the north shore of Prince Edward Island, not far from his wife’s family beginnings in Miscouche, PEI. They have spent a part of 33 summers in New Brunswick and PEI, and now get to PEI as often as they can.
