A Day in the Life of a Trafalgar Girl
It starts the moment you enter the Castle walls. Something is different here. Maybe it’s the suit of armour, the towers and turrets, the Castle grounds. Maybe it’s you. You’re a Trafalgar girl....and life will never be the same again.
Picture a school where you can meet your teachers, one on one, every day. Where you eat with every other student and faculty in a grand Dining Hall. Where you compete annually for the coveted House Cup. Where you learn that, truly, girls can and will do great things.
This is Trafalgar Castle School.
So what is it like to be a Trafalgar girl?
Whether through your House captain’s welcome, your Advisor’s guidance, your “Big Sister’s” friendship or your classmate’s warm smile, you are at home in the Castle from the moment you arrive. We specialize in welcomes! Every girl here can find her niche—that spot where she fits naturally into the fabric of the school.
Your day begins in Chapel at 8:00am, a place to gather and forget the hectic pace of your outside life, if only for a few minutes. Your Head of School may chat for a few minutes on the week’s theme, or you may hear a presentation from a teacher or fellow student. You may sing a song, hear announcements and begin to plan your day. In our non-denominational services, we celebrate our community and set the tone, each and every day.
You’ll continue on to Advisor Period at 8:25am, where you can check in with your Advisor—a trusted teacher available anytime to help with your studies, extra-curricular choices, academic planning. This ‘homeroom’ is a great source of support at the beginning of the day!
You then have 4 classes, each 80 minutes in length, separated by breaks or lunchtime. The day concludes, once again, in your Advisor homeroom with a 30-minute period for homework, or to travel to other teachers’ classrooms for tutoring. You can tackle much of your homework in this time, and leave your evenings free for extra-curriculars and time to relax!
Of course, many days at Trafalgar Castle School see something special going on! We travel as a whole school to Camp Kilcoo in late September, celebrate Thanksgiving with the time-honoured Turkey Trot (you have to see it to believe it!), give back to our community with local and international service trips, and celebrate traditions everywhere you look. We even travel—all 200 of us!—to a Canadian destination every April for our school-wide Education Experience Week.
Is there any wonder Trafalgar has been such a special place for girls for over 135 years? We know what we’re all about.....you just need to come and see for yourself.
You won’t believe what this Castle has to offer.Student Handbook
