Monday & Tuesday, June 2 & 3, are regular class days.  On Wednesday June 4, teachers will be available in their classrooms during their regularly scheduled classes for extra help. The school year does not finish until after the Trafalgar Day ceremonies on Saturday, June 14.  Travel arrangements are not to be made before this date.  All students are to be in attendance at Trafalgar Day on June 14 and the school activities scheduled for June 13th.  Students leaving prior to their last exam will receive zero for exams missed.

End of Term Activities

The end of the school year is fast approaching and with it June exams and end-of-term activities.  The following notes are intended to clarify the schedule of events, exam procedures and other activities. Further information is available on our school webpage.

1) Grade 6 and 7 students do not write exams.  They will have regular classes during the exam period (Thursday, June 5th through Thursday, June 12th) and will finish classes for the year on Thursday, June 12th at 10:30a.m.  There will be no chapel or regularly scheduled tutorial period during this period.  Students will be expected to be in their period 1 classroom by 8:30 a.m. each morning and classes will end at 3:00 p.m. each day.  Grade 6 and 7 teachers will be available during tutorial period.  Parents may pick up their daughter at 3:00p.m. or 3:30p.m., whichever is more convenient.

2) Wednesday, June 4th, will be a study day for students in Grades 8 through 12.  On this day, attendance at classes will be optional for these students.  Teachers will be in their classrooms during regularly scheduled classes for that day.  Students who wish extra-help may go to class and meet with their teachers.  Students in Grades 6 and 7 will have regularly scheduled classes on this day (including tutorial), finishing at 3:30p.m..

3) The exam period for students in Grades 8 through 12 runs from Thursday, June 5th through Thursday, June 12th.   Please see exam schedule attached.  Students are to be in regular school uniform throughout the exam period.  Students in Grades 8 through 10 writing exams are to be in the school, as during the regular school year.  These students are to remain at the school/on the school grounds during exams.

4) The schedule for each day during exams is as follows:

8:30 - 10:30 Morning Exam
10:30 - 10:45 Break
11:00 - 12:00 Morning Study Period
12:00 - 1:00 Lunch
1:00 - 3:00 Afternoon Exam
3:15 Push

5) Upon examining the exam schedule you will notice that the Gr. 8, 9 and 10 students write all of their exams in the morning exam period. The one exception is the Gr. 9 students who write one afternoon exam on Thursday, June 5th.   Day-Girls are free to go home after their morning exams.  We would encourage parents to pick their daughters up at approximately 10:30a.m.  If this is not possible, Day-Girls remaining at the school will be required to be in designated study rooms.

6) Grade 11 and 12 Day-Girls are responsible for being at school in time for their exams.  If they are in the school during an exam period in which they are not writing, Gr. 11 Day-Girls are free to study in the Resource Centre.

7) Grade 8 exams are usually 1.0 to 1.5 hours in length.  All other exams will be either 1.5 or 2 hours in length.

8) During the exam period, the school van will pick students up at the GO station at the regular time in the morning (7:30 a.m.).  There will be an additional van shuttle to the GO station at 11:00 a.m. and an additional pick-up at the GO station at 12:05 (noon) each day.  In the afternoon, the van shuttles to the GO station will be at 3:30 p.m. & 4:50 p.m.

9) On Thursday, June 12th, all students will be involved in our Trafalgar Day rehearsal from 11:00 - 12:00 noon.  Lunch will be provided for all students after the rehearsal.  Day-Girls from Grades 6 through 12 will be free to go home for the rest of the day after lunch.  There will be a trip to Wonderland organized for this Thursday afternoon (optional sign-up).

10) On Friday, June 13th, we will have the Prefects’ Chapel followed by our Awards Day Ceremony in the morning. House, athletic and a few academic awards will be presented. These events begin at 10:00 a.m. and all students are to be in attendance.  This will be followed by a luncheon at 12:00 noon.  Day-Girls will be free to go home after the luncheon which will be over at approximately 12:30 p.m.

11) On Thursday, June 12th and Friday, June 13th, students/parents may hand in used textbooks (for credit) in the Resource Centre from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

12) On Saturday, June 14th, we will have our Trafalgar Day Ceremonies and Service.  This begins with the Trafalgar Day Service at 9:30 a.m. for our graduates and their families.  The Trafalgar Day Ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m.  All students are to be in attendance for both functions in Number 1 Dress Uniform.  There will be a luncheon afterwards at approximately 12:00 noon.  After this, your daughter will be finished for the year and her summer holidays will have officially begun.

13) The Graduation Dinner and Dance will take place later in the day on Saturday, June 14th, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the school.

If you have any questions or concerns about the above information or any end-of-term activities please do not hesitate to contact me.
