Principal's Message

For over one hundred and thirty-three years, Trafalgar Castle School has been educating and preparing young women as they pursue their educational and career goals. Over the past thirty years as a teacher and vice-principal at the School, I have seen how our environment and culture benefits and optimally supports our students as they learn and develop, and ultimately excel.  Our academic and extra-curricular programmes challenge and prepare our young women for university success while focussing on the development of the whole student.  Our curriculum and community delivers more than just the promise of a university bound student - our curriculum and community readies students for university success.

I welcome you to explore our website and discover what is special about our school and the extensive array of academic and extra-curricular opportunities which we offer within the walls of our castle and its state-of-the art facilities. We have something for everyone. Discover how you can become a technological wizard while studying in a castle! I invite you to contact us at the school to arrange to come for a visit or to talk with us about what we are all about.

Sincerely,

J. Brian McClure, B.Sc., B.Ed., M.Sc.

Parent Testimonial

We have been asked to share our five-year experience with Trafalgar Castle School.  Last year all three of our daughters  attended Trafalgar Castle.

Our experience with Trafalgar Castle School has turned out to be exactly what we had hoped for.  A safe school with a strong academic focus, providing a wide variety of challenging academic, artistic and athletic programmes.  We feel that Trafalgar Castle School has provided not only a strong academic foundation but also a social forum which has helped our daughters develop into mature, responsible, self confident young women ready to embrace any leadership role with poise.  Muskoka Woods camping retreat, air band competition, bus rides to and from sporting events, house plays, talent night, Honour Society Dinner, Christmas Dinner, Senior’s Dinner, May Day and Trafalgar Day Graduation Ceremonies are just a few of the traditions at Trafalgar which have not only helped them develop new lasting friendships and encouraged them to dream, but have also given them a sense of belonging to the “Trafalgar Community”.  What a Great Community!!

Our eldest daughter graduated from Trafalgar Castle School last year as part of the double cohort year.  Undoubtedly, the education and opportunities provided by Trafalgar Castle School helped open the doors to all the universities she applied to.

Now that you have read our perspective, as parents, we feel it is even more important that you read a student’s perspective.

                        A Student’s Perspective:  By Maddie B.

"After having attended Trafalgar for Grades nine through twelve, and continuing my studies in science at McGill University, I appreciate more than ever the impact Trafalgar has had on my life.  Unlike several fellow university students, I find myself confident in my abilities to handle a challenging course load and the technological knowledge I garnered through Trafalgar’s laptop initiative cannot be underrated.  Why, in the past week alone I have taught two individuals (one a professor!) some of the finer points of Microsoft’s PowerPoint.  Additionally, Trafalgar seeks to graduate well-rounded girls by offering them a smorgasbord of artistic, athletic and academic programmes.  At Trafalgar I met my best friends, formed international friendships, developed my leadership skills, was academically challenged and truly strengthened my character.  I question how confident, how well rounded, how tech-savvy, how prepared I would be were it not for the lessons learned within the castle walls.  While I benefited from refurbished pianos, new dining hall tables and chairs (to eat as a community), a project/conference room, and a renovated health centre, my sisters are already experiencing the advantages of a brand new cutting edge science laboratory and classroom.  I cannot thank my parents enough for sending me to Trafalgar, but I must also express my gratitude to every person who, through their benevolence, made Trafalgar the fortifying experience it was.  I cannot put a price on the effect it has had on my personality, my intelligence and my life, nor can any parent put a price on their daughter’s future."

Wow!!  What else can we say?  Yes we are proud parents!!

Tuition fees help maintain the status quo at Trafalgar Castle.  However, Trafalgar Castle School is not about maintaining the status quo!!  Trafalgar Castle strives for academic excellence, programme enrichment and school advancement while maintaining many loved traditions.  The faculty at Trafalgar have encouraged our daughters to “love to learn” and to pursue their dreams.

Trafalgar Castle School has taught our daughters “not to go where the path may lead, but instead, to go where there is no path and leave a trail”!!

Sincerely,

Mike & JoAnne
